Ghostware

Doors are a suggestion filed by people who trust walls.

What it is

In the dev build The line runs in the development build.

Kind
Weave. The Clinic installs it at the First Splice.
Terrain
Interiors, low ceilings, dense geometry. Corners do not exist for you.
Opens at
Operator 10, at the First Splice.
Cost to master
22 points.

You do not travel the distance between two points; you decline it.

The cost

Bursts, never a cruise. The line's few charges and its recharge mean unskilled Ghostware is slower than sprinting, and the speed only exists if you keep hitting the chain window. Every departure leaves a brief shimmer, the loudest tell in the game, and the chain dies the moment a fight starts.

The tree

In the dev build The Operator 30 node also asks for this line's story, which is designed.

Seven tiers, from Operator 10 to Operator 50. The choices come at Operator 15 (A second charge or Fast Reload) and Operator 40 (The trailing blink or Thin Places), and taking one closes the other.

  1. Operator 10

    Wake

Blink. A blink along the aim ray, a long recharge, and a shimmer at the origin that tells the street where you were.

  2. Operator 15

    Form fork

Take one. A second charge. Blink twice back to back, then the wait. Fast Reload. Each charge comes back sooner.

  3. Operator 20

    Reach

Long Cut. Longer blinks, and a clearer shimmer at the origin.

  4. Operator 25

    Cadence

Phase Skate. Hold the travel verb to skate without friction, just off the deck.

  5. Operator 30

    Questline node

Standing Reservation. A momentum chain between blinks, a mark-and-return anchor, and the blink-strike.

  6. Operator 40

    Apex fork

Take one. The trailing blink. The blink path leaves a damaging trail behind it. Thin Places. Blink through thin walls and floors.

  7. Operator 50

    Capstone

No Fixed Address. A longer chain window, and the chain survives one hit.

Twelve metres is the width of every service alley in the Wick. That is not a coincidence.

Long Cut

A place the city keeps for you whether the city agrees or not.

Standing Reservation

The Lattice bled through the Stacks in '79 and never fully drained.

Thin Places

The registry has your name, your alloy and your face. It has never once had your location.

No Fixed Address

Culture

Exemplar. The courier the Sweep logged eleven times and caught none.

Ghostware splicers run quieter, with a private language of shimmer-trails.
