The Splice Clinic
A neon spiral marks it, visible from two blocks in any direction and unmistakable at night. People use the Spiral as a meeting point. Doc Splice's First Splice is done here.
Fabrication shops, compilers, and the Splice Clinic, where a bell rings for every new Legend.
Mapped The streets are laid out in the build. The First Splice itself runs in the development build, and is covered below.
Doc Splice runs the Splice Clinic here and believes ceremony is half the medicine, so powers go in with the street watching. Two doors down, a Fast-Splice franchise installs the same hardware without the ceremony and for less.
Meridian tolerates Doc Splice's independence because watching who gets spliced tells it more than any checkpoint could. To Meridian the Clinic works as a honeypot.
Smokestacks that have not vented smoke in a decade vent light instead, in colours that change with whichever installs are running that hour. Nothing here is no-fly. It is the most flight-friendly hub in the city, and this is where new Legends learn the sky. See Skybreak.

It rings once for every completed First Splice, and strangers in the street look up. It never rings for a refusal. Four in a day is a good day.
Where people wait for someone else's ceremony to end.
A franchise of the implant maker Suture, two doors from the Clinic. It has its own chime, quieter than the Bell and unpleasantly cheerful.
It is the most hopeful district in Catena, and Meridian watches it closely for that reason. The forge floors are open to the street from 06:00, and the whole block counts its newborn Legends out loud.
We make Legends here.

The bell rings once per ceremony. It is not rung for anything else, and it is not rung twice.

THAT ONE'S NOT THE BELL
In the dev build The First Splice at Operator 10 and the Cleanskin refusal run in the development build. The benches and the rest of the block are the game's design.
At Operator 10 Doc Splice wakes your first travel line and the Bell rings once. The game's own strings call this the First Awakening. A Legend who refuses the needle is a Cleanskin, and the Bell stays silent.
The game's design stages a Legend's first takeoff through the Clinic's opened roof. See Skybreak for the line most people want.
