Breaker Rows is the world-boss shard. Twelve identical rows of union housing stood here, and the Great Scar took the middle of them. The Repo Gantry looms over what is left.

People time things by the Gantry's moving shadow, and the Scar is loudest at dusk. They still say they were Row Six the way people elsewhere give a street name, though there is no Row Six.

In the Rows they open the window and count three seconds out loud when the substation goes dark. Ask why and you are told about Row Six. You are not told what happened to it.

The Slab and its walls

The Slab

A sunken plaza around the Great Scar, and the arena for the district's biggest fight.

The Great Scar

The largest breach scar in the city, a tear that opened in the middle of the housing rows. See breach scars.

The Repo Gantry

It looms over the Slab, and its shadow is the district's clock.

The Candle Wall

At the Slab's south lip: twelve brackets, one for each row, kept by the people who live there. There are no names on it, only numbers. Bracket six holds more lights than the other eleven combined, and none of them has ever been moved across.

Relighting happens when the Repo Gantry's shadow crosses the third bracket, and people come when it does. It is the third of the four walls.

The Pinnacle board

Designed The pinnacle contract is the game's design.

A contract board that looks like a noticeboard with very bad news on it.

The Cage

A crew hoist that still runs its shift. Its doors open at the hour and stay open for a minute, and it has never closed on anyone who did not step in. The rule in the Rows is not to be curious at the hour. The Cage is Bleedthrough.

About two hundred

About two hundred people still live here, and they will not go. The rest are salvage crews and pinnacle contractors.

ROW SIX

Everywhere, all of it

TWELVE. NOT ELEVEN.

WE KNOW ALL THE NUMBERS. THAT'S WHY WE USE THEM.

The titan fight, as designed

Designed

Breaker Rows is where the heat is meant to climb to tier 5 and a titan breach is meant to open at the nearest scar. The district is the planned arena for the world boss.

Who stays

  • A resident of the Rows will teach you the window rule and will not say what happened to Row Six.
  • The Candle Wall's keepers do not say who told them when to come.

What is still on shift

  • Nothing in Bleedthrough is hunting anybody. The constructs here are possessed machinery doing its old job on schedule. The host law tells a tagged machine from one that is working.
  • Switchmother is a walking substation plated 6-ROW. It sheds load for a few seconds, and the block goes dark.
  • the Repossessor is the titan. It wears a Meridian repo-engine chassis and repossesses Legends.
